At Way of the Fist, we combine world-class combat systems with the highest standards of safety and athletic regulation. Whether you are training for self-defense, fitness, or competition, our program is built on two primary foundations.
STX(Savate-Thai Cross) Kickboxing is a hybrid striking system developed by Erik Paulson. It focuses on explosive, multi-angle, and fluid combinations, integrating both long-range attacks with close-range clinch work together so you always have the technical edge in every spot.
This specialized system incorporates
Muay Thai / Thai Boxing
Savate / French Kickboxing
Panantukan / Filipino Dirty Boxing
Jun Fan / JKD
The core of the STX Kickboxing system is built on superior movement and environmental control. It begins with the elite footwork and evasiveness of Savate, which keeps you constantly in motion. This mobility ensures you are never a stationary target, allowing you to circle your opponent and attack from dominate angles. By combining this movement with Bruce Lee's Jun Fan / JKD philosophy, it adds interceptions and explosive entries. This creates a sophisticated "chess match" where fakes and setups force your opponent to second-guess every move.
As the distance closes, the system transitions into the rythmic precision of Boxing, using head movement and hand speed to dominate "in the pocket," if the fight moves into close quarters, STX Kickboxing integrates the devastating power of Muay Thai clinch control to command the inside space. By utilizing unique counter-techniques of panantukan—a Street-effective art that uses the whole body as a weapon to break the opponent's rhythm and balance—you take them completely out of their game. In STX Kickboxing system, your movement and range control dictate the outcome, transitioning a physical struggle into technical excellence.
WAKO Canada is the official national governing body for amateur Kickboxing in Canada, established in 2004 to promote safety, education, and competition. Recognized by the International Olympic Committee ( IOC), it sanctions over 300 clubs nationwide, hosts provincial/national championships, and focuses on athlete safety, including strict concussion protocols. At Way of the Fist, we believe that elite performance must be built on a foundation of professional standards and safety.
